Former Madison Township fire lieutenant retains Koffel Brininger Nesbitt for misdemeanor charges of gross sexual imposition. He is currently in jail for the accusations.
Clark County sheriff’s deputies arrested South Charleston man, Matthew Meyer, on Thursday. Meyer, 32, faces charges of sexual misconduct with a minor. The sheriff’s office was contacted by the South Charleston police department on January 11. The female juvenile’s parents filed a report, claiming Meyer engaged in sexual misconduct with their daughter.
According to the police reports, the plaintiff started the Cadet program at Madison Township Fire Department, where Meyer ran the program and served as a lieutenant. Investigators found that Meyer started texting the minor in August 2015. He allegedly texted at late hours in the night, supposedly talking about his marital problems. The reports claim he communicated with the plaintiff while on duty with the Mechanicsburg Police Department.
Reports state the defendant began a romantic relationship with the juvenile in March. Investigators claim Meyer fondled the plaintiff and grabbed her hand to touch him inappropriately. In addition, the minor accused Meyer of exposing himself to her and asking for oral sex.
Meyer appeared before court the Clark County Municipal Court, where he pled not guilty. He currently faces a fine up to $5,000 and up to 18 months in jail time. Koffel Brininger Nesbitt will be handling Meyer’s case.
