Criminal Defense Attorney Brad Koffel recently appeared as a guest on The Mark Blazor show to discuss Dr. William Husel’s lawsuit seeking a recovery of attorneys’ fees against Mount Carmel Health System’s parent company, Trinity Health Corporation.
Dr. Husel is a former Mount Carmel internist who was charged in June with 25 counts of murder over allegations that he administered lethal doses of fentanyl to terminal patients under his care. The former Mount Carmel doctor is now being represented by Florida Attorney Jose Baez, known for his role representing Case Anthony, who was acquitted of murder in a high-profile case over the death of her child Casey Anthony, and the late NFL star Aaron Hernandez.

As Attorney Koffel tells Blazor, the legal fees Dr. Husel may be seeking could amount to upwards of half a million to a million dollars, given the severity of charges, expected length of trial, and number of attorneys working on the case. He also discusses the potential for an actual trial, and whether Baez will stay on the case if he can’t get paid.
In honor of back-to-school season, Attorney Koffel also sends a reminder to parents about what they can do to ensure their college-age students protect themselves against potential assault lawsuits.
