There are four sobriety check points planned for tonight across the middle
of Ohio. If you plan on going out, having a drink, or just want to be
aware, keep these areas in mind.
The checkpoints are planned for the following areas:
- Crawford County, near County Road 330, west of U.S. 30 and ear of Stelzer Road. The checkpoint
will be stationed there approximately from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. - Delaware County, near Sawmill Parkway. The checkpoints will be there from around 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
- Hilliard, near Hilliard-Rome Road by Richlanne Drive. Expect to see the checkpoints
there from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. - Jackson Township, by U.S. 62 and Rensch Road. The roadblock will be posted from 8:30 p.m.
to 1:30 a.m.
We hope that you practice safe tactics in regard to drinking and driving.
Some things you might want to remember about when driving past a DUI Checkpoint:
- Cops cannot search your car without probable cause or your permission
- Under the 5th Amendment, you can refuse to answer any of the police officer’s questions
- You can deny taking the Breathalyzer test
- You can deny partaking in the Field Sobriety Exercises, but the police
can still arrest you, if they feel like there is probable cause of you
drinking and driving.
