The Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced that it will increase DUI /
OVI enforcement efforts during its “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”
campaign, which runs from August 19th to Labor Day, September 7th.
The OSHP’s increased enforcement coincides with the Labor Day Weekend,
which sees some of the highest rates of DUI arrests and accidents of any
period during the year.
Though COVID-19 has resulted in reduced traffic and restrictions on bars
and restaurants, statistics show DUI arrests have remained nearly consistent
with pre-pandemic levels in much of the country. Public officials worry
that may extend to the holiday weekend.
