The Franklin County DUI Task Force has just announced that they will be conducting two different sobriety checkpoints tonight, both of which will be on Westerville Road in Clinton Township. The first will be held north of Agler Road, and will be in operation from 9 to 11 p.m. The second will be held south of Innis Road, and will be in operation from 11:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Law enforcement agencies throughout Franklin County have been steadfast in their efforts to catch and arrest DUI offenders, so you can expect little to no leniency if you are pulled over and questioned by the police for suspected drunk driving.
This may be largely due to the fact that there are currently more than 500 habitual offenders – meaning those who have been convicted of DUI five or more times – living in Franklin County. According to the Sheriff’s Office, this is why the first ever county-wide DUI Task Force was initially created in the state of Ohio. When the DUI Task Force was formed back in 1993, Franklin County contained the second highest number of driver fatalities resulting from alcohol-related traffic accidents. Ever since, the DUI Task Force has continued to implement highly visible enforcement activities, like sobriety checkpoints.
