Attorney Jeff Stavroff of Koffel Brininger Nesbitt is representing a young mother accused of causing the drowning death of her infant daughter after stepping away from the bathtub to answer a phone call.

Tiffany A. Davis has pleaded not guilty to child endangering and involuntary manslaughter after being implicated in the drowning death of her 11-month-old daughter. Davis, 25, is represented by Attorney Jeff Stavroff of Koffel Brininger Nesbitt.

The not guilty plea was entered on Wednesday in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court. Davis is currently out on $100,000 bond.

Davis’ daughter tragically died after a near-drowning incident earlier this year. Davis, who says she had briefly stepped away from the bathtub to answer a phone call, came back to find her daughter unresponsive. She called emergency services who transported her daughter to the hospital on April 24, but the baby did not recover, and died on June 6. The coroner ruled the death an accident.

Davis is currently awaiting a trial date.

She faces one count of child endangering, which is a third degree felony in Ohio, and one count of involuntary manslaughter, which is a first degree felony in Ohio.
